In the face of legislative imperatives, government targets and ever changing market dynamics, NPEG's work on environmental and sustainability matters focusses on providing the best possible advice on an important gorwoth area that will affect all aspects of policing.

Work in the area of strategic growth has been ongoing for over 20 years.  The primary focus of the group is to support forces as they engage with planning authorities and developers, applying for Section 106 and Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) contributions. In parallel, we are also  lobbying for planning reform on behalf of all emergency services.

Annual benchmarking provides the means for forces to measure and therefore manage the performance and the efficiency of their estate in the most effective way.  Our work is supported by an external professioinal body, who aggregate all the data, allowing a force to coimpare their own metrics against broader metrics. This is complemented by an annual strategic report, which identifies current and future trends.

All of our custodial work focusses on supporting forces achieve national best practice standards  that safeguard and protect the vulnerable. Be it through design reviews or inspections, the aim is the same; namely to create calm, controlled compliance in a high risk operational environment.
